Krásná kniha. Je to romantický román o lásce, víře, odvaze, odpuštění a nenávisti, zradě a zlobě. Vyprávění je okořeněno specifickým humorem, ačkoliv je to velmi dramatický příběh. Kniha je krásná i fyzicky, jako materie, je plná krásných ilustraci. Je to kniha z doby kdy ještě platilo že umění je zde pro to aby "povzvedávalo srdce člověka k Bohu" a Charles Dickens byl bezesporu věřící člověk.
