A thrilling story, with an interesting yet more traditional take on the end of humanity, in a sense that the end is essentially caused by humans, biological welfare, and genetic manipulation. When stripped of technological advances facing such a primitive force as triffids, humanity's equally dangerous enemy are people and their thirst for power, control and domination. Fantastic read!
