The Watch, Thoroughly Revised

The Watch—featuring Rolex, Patek Philippe, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Omega, TAG Heuer, Breitling, and other collected and discussed watch brands—is a remarkable full-color guide to vintage and contemporary mechanical watches, perfect for both beginner and expert watch collectors.   A well-made men’s wristwatch combines inspired design, technical innovation, and precise craftsmanship. It helps to define a man’s personal style, and it can be an essential tool for many pursuits.   It might be a talisman or an heirloom. It can be a lifelong companion, or part of a collection that brings its own deep rewards. If it has a history, it can evoke the era in which it was made; if it’s new, it may speak to today’s cutting-edge technology. It may incorporate gold and porcelain or carbon composite and titanium.  The Watch celebrates the craftsmanship of watchmaking for the watch collector. It features more than 600 vintage and contemporary watches from 50 leading brands that have made significant contributions to the history and craft of fine watchmaking. Reflecting the authors’ deep knowledge of every aspect of today’s lively and diverse community of watchmakers and watch collectors, it’s an essential book for any aficionado.   For this revised edition, national bestselling author Gene Stone is joined by Stephen Pulvirent of Hodinkee.com. Together, they have thoroughly revamped the book to reflect the current state of the watch world, with the addition of new brands, new models, and more focused and nuanced coverage of the traditional brand leaders. Here are 430 watches, profiles of collectors, and an update on buying, collecting, and maintaining watches. There is even an invaluable A-to-Z glossary of watch terms, completely updated.   This remarkable oversize, full-color book belongs in the home of every watch collector.
