Learn Spanish with Luis y Sofía, Level 2

Transform Spanish teaching in primary schools with Learn Spanish with Luis y Sofía.

Designed to inspire a love of the language, this comprehensive 4-level scheme ensures full coverage of the Key Stage 2 National Curriculum, with Level 2 building on the language and vocabulary covered in Level 1.

The Level 2 book, along with its free downloadable resources, provides everything you need to teach Spanish confidently and effectively in Year 4. There are 7 carefully crafted stories designed to introduce beginning learners to essential vocabulary and language structures. These can be shared with pupils using audio-enhanced PowerPoints on an interactive whiteboard or printed for individual reading.

Accompanying the stories are a wealth of lesson ideas for developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, engaging activities and mini-scripts to make the most of every story.

Learn Spanish with Luis y Sofía is ideal for non-specialist teachers. Grammar skills are introduced progressively throughout the scheme, with clear explanations provided to support teachers. With all language modelled in high-quality audio files, you won’t need to worry about pronunciation.

Stories are an excellent way to teach Spanish as they foster emotional engagement, making the learning process both enjoyable and memorable. Children will adore the humour and relatable moments in the stories, eagerly following Luis and Sofía’s adventures. Like many siblings, Luis and Sofía sometimes bicker, adding to their charm and authenticity.

The stories link seamlessly to popular primary school topics, making it easy to integrate the scheme with other Spanish resources. At Level 2, topics include animals, likes and dislikes, days of the week, months of the year, parts of the body and numbers to 31.

This book and accompanying resources provide everything you need to teach Spanish in Year 4. However, to enable your pupils to better enjoy reading the stories on their own or in groups, an anthology of the stories is available for purchase: Luis y Sofía Spanish Stories for Primary School Pupils, Level 2.
