Chapman regarded the translation of this epic, and of Homer''s Odyssey (also available in Wordsworth Editions) as his life''s work, and dedicated himself to capturing the ''soul'' of the poem.

Knížka mě nebavila tolik jako její pokračování (Odyssea), protože tam toho válčení bylo zkrátka moc a ti bohové mi tam také moc nesedli (pokud je proti Vám bůh, nemáte moc šancí, ať se snažíte jak chcete, zkrátka prohrajete), ale přesto je to klasika, kterou by si měl každý přečást.
