Popis

Meet Jack Rothman. He's seventeen and loves partying, makeup and boys - sometimes all at the same time.

His sex life makes him the hot topic for the high school gossip machine. But who cares? Like Jack always says, 'it could be worse'.

He doesn't actually expect that to come true.

But after Jack starts writing an online sex advice column, the mysterious love letters he's been getting take a turn for the creepy.

Jack's secret admirer knows everything: where he's hanging out, who he's sleeping with, who his mum is dating. They claim they love Jack, but not his unashamedly queer lifestyle. They want him to curb his sexuality, or they'll force him.

Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts) was a fast paced read with nice twists and interesting characters. The book follows Jack, an openly gay high school student who doesn't care what others think about him and his se life. That is, until anonymous love letters start appearing in his locker. And what might seem as a joke quickly turns into a nerv-wracking stalking. What I really like about this story were the characters. Jack and his friends are really interesting and for the YA genre pretty unusual. After all, how many books from the YA genre have characters with a such sex-positive view? The aspect of openess about sex, sexuality and wild (but in the end safe) teenage escapades was welcomed and I liked how the topics were nicely tackled as I think it's important not to shy away and to talk about them more. The column was a great space for it and to be completely honest, maybe I teared up a little when reading the one about asexuality. Maybe the ending felt a bit too rushed, but I can't help but love the book anyways. Such a great read for times when you are stuck in a slump and need something to finish in a day.
