Popis

Flutter is a memoir about how the author fell in love with a secret gambler, and their journey to be free of this addiction. Dianne has recreated Tony’s voice from her memories of him, supplemented by his diaries and notes, so the story is told from two points of view. For Tony, gambling was more than a flutter, it was his life. But they sought help and learned how important other people are on the road to recovery. Dianne and Tony were happily married for thirty-four years. Theirs is just one story, but compulsive gambling affects thousands of people every day. It’s a puzzling problem to pin down, as it has no obvious physical symptoms. It’s horrible living with an addict and not having a clue what’s going on. This book could help someone, perhaps you or maybe someone you know, identify the problem of addiction and be able to seek help. This book is not just about gambling. Dianne and Tony face challenges and joys that may be just like some of yours. No one can escape loss and grief, and that is written about too. However, it’s written with a light touch, so there is fun and love and laughter included too.
