Dominique Perrault erupted into the European architecture landscape in the early '90s, winning the competition for the Paris National Library-and then the French National Prize for Architecture in 1996, followed by the Mies van der Rohe Prize in 1997. Perrault developed a revolutionary design production balanced between a sophisticated rationalism and an elegant use of technology as seen in the Berlin Velodrome and in the Mediateque of Venissieux.This richly illustrated volume examines the complete work of Perrault and concludes with an interview with the master. Moving from Perrault's early international projects, Capitanucci reviews his creative production, focusing her essay on the recent works by dividing it into thematic sections: Architecture and Contemporary Public Space-Five Projects, Boxes, Late Nineties-Competitions and Design Experiments, and Urban renewal.
