Street art as a form of art can be thought-provoking, political, humorous or shocking. Although we are bombarded by words every day, it's somehow more appealing when these words are placed on the street by artists rather than advertisers. Urban Scrawl documents some of the most interesting street art typography from around the world, from formal typography to angsty scrawl. Lou Chamberlin has travelled from Warsaw to London, Tokyo to New York, Cape Town to Santiago, in search of the world's most interesting and intriguing street art. Her photographs capture these works at a moment in time, documenting and celebrating the ever-changing street font scene. About the Author Lou Chamberlin is an artist, author and arts educator. For more than 10 years Lou has been photographing and chronicling International street art. Urban Scrawl is the fifth book she has published on this topic. Lou's role in visually preserving the various forms of creative expression contributes to a greater appreciation of the significant part street art continues to play in the cultural life of cities around the world. She has been teaching and writing about art for more than 20 years.
