Marcelene lived through the deaths of her parents, her brother Rich, her husband Wayne, but never thought she would outlive one of her children. After years of battling opioid addiction, Sommer lost her life in May 2022 at 38 years old. Through prayer, meditation, and silent reflection, Marcelene was able to release any judgment about her daughter’s life, find solace, and harness unconditional love. Guided by her faith and with a little help from ayahuasca, she came to understand that life is measured not by one’s actions but by the depth of love we share.
