Since then, people from all over the world have rallied to help restore this extraordinary place. To participate in this effort, E/P/A is reissuing Notre-Dame de Paris: The Eternal Cathedral and will contribute a portion of sales to its reconstruction. With glorious, detailed colour photographs and many historical illustrations, this book is expertly written by a noted French historian and will be for many a keepsake of this place of universal devotion. Contents: In Search of the Medieval Cathedral; The Birth of a Cathedral; The cult of the Virgin; Notre Dame and the Clergy; Notre Dame and the Faithful; Notre Dame and the Kingdom About the Author Claude Gauvard is a Professor of Medieval History at the Paris Sorbonne University, she has published extensively on a variety of subjects relating to medieval times. She is considered an authority on this period and was made an Officer of the Arts and Letters (Officier des Arts et des Lettres), one of France's highest distinctions. Photographer Joël Laiter trained as an architect and became an art historian and photographer. His works have been featured in a number of magazines such as Madame Figaro, Elle Décoration, and World of Interiors.
