This book shows the transformation of an existing apartment with problems into a new, open floor space that satisfies the needs of the owners. The book presents the transformation of this space through full colour and b & w images and drawings of the 'before and after'. A description of the project, beginning with an overview of the existing conditions and a wish list of changes, adds to the understanding of the work involved. Architects/designers, owners, builders (indeed, many members of the team involved in the construction) bring in their own experience to point out the challenges faced during the remodelling, including building code issues, structural upgrading, pipe-work changes, and the inability to fully satisfy the owners' spatial requirements. The text also explains how the improvements have increased the value of the property.
