Edira Brillwyn has a secret. Edira Brillwyn is a threadmender.

Edira's beloved aunt Rowena - a fellow threadmender - taught her to conceal this ability to protect herself from people who would take advantage, especially their powerful and wealthy neighbors.
Withholding her magic will save her life. Orin Fernglove is immortal - an everliving - and head of the prominent Fernglove house. The Ferngloves own the local mines, possess magic powerful enough to alter the stars, and don't take "no" for an answer.
When Edira's brothers unexpectedly contract blight, an incurable virus killing people throughout the town, Orin offers to help. If Edira returns to Fernglove Manor to assist in researching a cure to the blight, Orin can slow their sickness while she hones her magic. Using her magic could save the world.
