Widely regarded as the most important Dutch designer of the last century, Piet Zwart helped rewrite the rules of modern typography. Meggs and Paul Stirton, a rich selection of rarely seen projects from Zwart’s decade-long relationship with NKF and a translation of Zwart’s original manifesto.Piet Zwart (1885–1977) originally trained as an architect at the National School of Applied Arts in Amsterdam. He incorporated aspects of Constructivism and De Stijl into his typographic work for the Nederlandse Kabelfabriek Delft and the Dutch postal service. In 2000 he was posthumously awarded “Designer of the Century” by the Association of Dutch Designers.
