Whether large or small, sharp-edged or soft, coarse or fine: The architecture depicted in this volume is carried by the individual flair of Scandinavia, which is made literally palpable through the sense of free spirit and respect for people and the environment and lends a special quality of life. The presented projects from the areas of residential, commercial, and public buildings represent here an excerpt of the manifold possibilities for new living spaces, which the architects from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland have developed flexibly and individually in cooperation with their clients. In harmony with sustainability, daring ideas were courageously implemented, subtle details were patiently shaped, complicated tasks were intelligently solved, and places for meeting and retreat were sensitively built. Insight into the Scandinavian notion of creative design and aesthetic reflection with the built space is impressively opened by the generosity of the architects presented in this volume.
